Overview

The Sales Engineer provides customers, sales staff and channel partners with technical product advice during pre-sales discussions. Performs detailed online demonstrations during which they must effectively promote product features, answer audience questions and clearly ascertain the customer’s needs and requirements. The Pre-Sales Engineer must demonstrate expert knowledge of the company’s products and will be required to assist customers wherever necessary during their product evaluations. This will include responding to technical queries via email, remote assistance, troubleshooting and solving moderately complex sales support problems. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 5 years technical product support, network/system administration or relevant pre sales experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical pre-sales support activities in support of the company's products.
  • Conducts online product demonstrations and webinars.
  • Answers technical questions from potential customers and channel partners.
  • Maintains and continually upgrades technical understanding of products and provides training to other team members where necessary.
  • Advise Inside Sales (IS) in all technical pre-sales support functions, providing technical advice to IS and Partners on the best solutions to fit customer requirements.
  • Performs pre-sales technical support duties, including product configuration and troubleshooting of customer issues.
  • Convey customer feedback including feature requests and product issues to Product Management and Development teams.

On occasion will be required to present at Channel Partner events and Industry

Qualifications

  • Fluent German language skills required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills are critical.
  • Must possess strong reasoning and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • A good mix of technical ability, sales and customer interaction skills are required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Business or Computing discipline or 5+ years’ experience in related field (Network Engineer, Network Administrator, System Administrator or similar IT related job function)
  • Substantial experience with TCP/IP based networks and a fundamental understanding of
  • Network and Application Management protocols including SNMP, SNMP Traps, Syslogs, ICMP, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
  • Strong server (Windows 2008, UNIX or Linux) experience.
  • Windows or Unix Scripting (VB, Perl, shell) experience highly desirable.
  • CCNA, MCSA OR MCSE or working towards also desirable.
  • Additional experience in Virtualization, Storage or Database technologies highly desirable
  • Experience in delivering technical training to pre sales and or/sales staff internally and externally to partners and end users is highly desirable
